Project Execution and Control

CEI develops a scoping or programming document for all projects which defines the project in detail with respect to the overall objective and CEI’s role in meeting that objective. We call this document an “Execution and Control” plan or manual. Some of the areas covered by this document are:

  • Project Objective
  • Scope
  • Cost Estimate
  • Schedule
  • Organization
  • Roles & Responsibilities
  • Procedures
  • Reporting

The E&C plan clearly identifies all of the critical roles in the project and who will carry out each role. This includes all members of the design team, client steering committees, stakeholders and even executive board members. Procedures are detailed to make sure that all participants in the project understand the flow of documents and approval paths. A reporting structure is also planned to ensure that everyone involved is informed and that they understand where information will come from and when.

This plan can be as simple as a one page document on small projects or potentially a complete book on large projects. The size of the E&C document is tailored to the wishes of the client and the depth of control required. In the past, at the end of the project, some of our clients have adopted the E&C document as a new company standard for project execution.
